About Manuel Keene
The context of Manuel Keene’s work is his study of and ongoing curiosity in the Islamic Art World. His scholarship from undergraduate through his thesis while a student at the American University in Cairo, and later positions as Curator both at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and most recently of the a-Sabah collection at the Dar al-athar Museum in Kuwait have produced a deep and rich study of the field. The collection of Sheik Nasser al-Sabah which he curated traveled the world and first opened in Kuwait and then to the Louvre in Paris, then throughout the United States. Next, the collection traveled throughout the United States including the Metropolitan Museum in New York and other cities.
Throughout his career with the museums, Mr. keene continued to pursue research and publication as well as the creation of his own artistic work through painting and poetry.
